A WONDER, A TRIUMPH, STRONG FEELINGS
LES PRETRES sing « Le lac des
Cygnes », « Savoir Aimer », « le Boléro de Ravel»,
« Puisque tu Pars », « Mon Vieux » and so their voices
touch your hearts …
If spirituality is omnipresent, LES
PRETRES chose the profane songs of that album because of their popularity and
because of the values they represent. Hope, love, tolerance, compassion can
gather believers and non-believers. Even Georges Brassens, not reputed for his
love of “priests”, is involved in the project through the fantastic adaptation
of his song "Je vous salue, Marie", a poem from Francis James
illustrating the mysteries of the Rosary.
How did this adventure start?
In 2009, His Lordship Jean-Michel di Falco Léandri,
Bishop of the diocese of Gap and Embrun
(France), was seeking funding for two big projects that mean a lot to him : the
financial support of a school in
Madagascar and the construction of a new church for the sanctuary
« Notre-Dame du Laus », near Gap, in
Provence.
In order to raise the necessary funds, His
Lordship Jean-Michel di Falco Léandri, inspired by the phenomenon of “The
Priests” in 2008, across the Channel (of which more than one million of CD’s
were sold in Europe), decided to bring
together two priests and one seminarian : Father Jean Michel Bardet, Father Charles Troesch and
the seminarian Dinh Nguyen Nguyen. That’s the way the album "Spiritus
Dei" was born: 14 titles with a universal message, combining religious
music, great standards and one original title. It ranked number two in sales of
the year 2010 in all musical categories combined. In April 2011, LES PRETRES released
their second album “Gloria”, which is a huge hit.
The Scouts and the Patro of Soumagne, two youth
groups, are pleased to organize this show on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.
in the prestigious church of Banneux Notre-Dame. The profits will be used to reduce the budget
for the alterations of the building they bought in 2007.
